STATE PARK PLACES 1ST, 4TH, AND 6TH IN 2008 12U CROSSTOWN CLASSIC HELD IN DYER.

State Park's Chesterton Tribune took the championship while Crestline Coach places 4th, and Winey Insurance places 6th,

The Lady Mustang's went undefeated in this 16 team tournament, held at Dyer's Northgate Complex.  They opened up on Friday night against Dyer ( 3 ) , and came up with 9 - 0 win.  Abby canright tossed a no hitter, striking out 15 while only walking 2.  The offense was led by Megan Kerkes and Trenee Fancher-Keller.  They both went 3 for 3 with 3 RBI"S and 2 runs scored.  Canright scored 3 times.

On Saturday morning the Mustang's played Winey Insurance, and ended up with a 6 - 0 victory.  Canright picked up the win on the mound.  She struck out 12.  Leading the way offensively was Hannah Sakelaris.  She went 3 for 3 with 3 RBI"S.  Abby Brown also went 3 for 3 with 1 RBI.

In the afternoon game, the Mustang's held on for a 7 - 6 victory over Schererville ( 5).  With the score 7 - 2 in the seventh inning Schererville picked up four runs, and had the tying run at third base.  Canright struck out the next batter to end the game.  She finished with 11 strikeouts.  Hannah Sakelaris and Trenee Fancher-Keller led the offense by going 2 for 3 with 2 and 1 RBI"S.

In the semi-finals the Tribune played St. John, and beat them 5 - 2.  Hayley Sabol picked up the win on the mound.  She struck out 9 while walking 4.  Fancher-Keller led the offense, going 2 for 2 with 2 runs scored.  Picking up RBI"S were Canright, Sakelaris, and Kerkes. 

In the Championship game the Tribune had to play against Schererville ( 5).  The Mustang's played outstanding defense, and came away with a 4 - 0 win.  The infield of Megan Kerkes 3B, Abby Brown SS, Jordan Wadding 2B, and Hannah Sakelaris 1B, had 11 putouts with no error's.  Canright picked up the win,while sriking out 7 and only walking 1.  Sakelaris led the offense by hitting a 2 run double to the fence.  She ended up 2 for 3 with 2 RBI"S.  Canright was 2 for 3 with 2 runs scored.

The Mustang's all showed good team work, sportsmanship, and hustled throughout the entire tournament.  The team consists of Abby Brown, Abby Canright, Kendall Fancher-Keller, Trenee Fancher-Keller, Megan Kerkes, Britta Johnson, Lia Lombardini, Alex Raudry, Eileen Ryan, Hayley Sabol, Hannah Sakelaris, Melanie Sakelaris, and Jordan Wadding.  Coaches Becky Metaja-Lombardini, Joe Sabol, and manager Jody Wadding.
