State Park advances to the semi-finals with a 5-1 victory over Blackford County. In Blackford's half of the first inning State Park held them 3 up 3 down. In the bottom of 1, Braelyn Molenda reached on a walk and after 1 out, Trenee Fancher-Keller doubled to center plating Molenda. In the top of 2 Abby Canright shut out Blackford County with 3 strikeouts. In the bottom of 2 after 2 outs Abby Canright drew a walk then Natalie Melcher laid down a picture perfect bunt for a base hit. Next up, Raven Bach who roped a single to center scoring both Canright and Melcher. In the 3rd inning both sides could not produce a run stranding one baserunner each. Going into the 4th inning, Blackford County scored their only run on one hit, with that one hit being a triple. Canright would strike out the last batter of the inning with the bases loaded. In the bottom of 4, it was again Canright and Melcher reaching on singles. With 2 outs Trenee Fancher-Keller blasts a double to center field bringing in Canright and Melcher. Canright would hold Blackford County hitless in the 5th and 6th inning to seal the victory. Canright finished the game striking out 12, walking 3 and only giving up 2 hits. State Park advances to the semi final round playing at noon on Tuesday the 21st. State Park drops game 2 of pool play to Silver Creek by a score of 4-1.
State Park's bats went slient only picking up 2 hits by Anny Canright and Becky Rizer. Savannah McCafferty had a sacrifice fly that plated Jordan Wadding for State Park's only run. Savannah McCafferty picked up the hard loss on the mound striking out 3 while only walking 1. State Park resumes pool play Monday at 1pm EST. Fall Creek took the lead in the bottom of the first with 2 unearned runs. State Park fought back in the 2nd inning with 7 runs of their own. Abby Brown got the inning started with a double, followed by singles from Jordan Wadding, Courtney O'Keefe, Natalie Melcher, Savannah McCafferty, Sierra LaFreniere and Brown, again. Fall Creek was held to zero runs in the bottom of the 2nd. State Park added one more to the board in the top of the 3rd on Raven Bach's fielders choice which plated O'Keefe. Fall Creek would load the bases in their half of the 3rd inning, but could not produce a run. In State Park's 4th inning singles by LaFreniere, Brown and Abby Canright produced 2 more runs. In Fall Creek's half of the 4th they would add their last run to the board on a couple hits. State Park went down in the 5th inning stranding runners at 2nd and 3rd. State Park answered back by eliminating Fall Creek's side 3 up 3 down. In the top of the 6th State Park would add some insurance runs with doubles by O'Keefe and Melcher, followed by Jessica Ciesielski's RBI single. Fall Creek again went 3 up 3 down in the bottom of the 6th to end the game. Abby Canright picks up the win on the mound striking out 7. State Park's offense was led by Abby Brown (4 for4, 2 runs scored) Courtney O'Keefe (3 for 4, 3 runs scored) Sierra LaFreniere (3 for 5, 2 RBIs)
