SPLL Mission Statement

We are committed to providing an opportunity for our community’s children to learn the game of baseball and softball in a safe, structured, friendly and positive environment. This commitment supports the children in our community by developing their ideals of sportsmanship, honesty, discipline, teamwork and physical well-being – fundamental skills that will help them develop into good, decent, healthy and trustworthy citizens and will be used throughout their lives.

History of State Park Little League

State Park Little League (SPLL) was established in 1953 for the purpose of providing fields and equipment to help “guide the girls and boys of Westchester Township to develop into good citizens by providing a properly supervised baseball program."

SPLL has grown from a 48 player, 4 team program in 1953 to a nearly 400 player, 24+ team program offering multiple divisions of play. The league has 3 dedicated fields in its complex on 250 League Lane and access to multiple park and school fields in Chesterton, Porter and Burns Harbor.

The spring season runs from early April through mid-June with teams playing 14-18 games.  Tournament play typically runs through mid-July.

Online registration for the spring season starts in December and usually runs into February.  The league’s website (www.stateparklittleleague.com) and Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/stateparkll) will have updates for registration dates and times.

SPLL also offers Fall Ball.  This is a lighter and less competitive version of our regular season play.  There is only one game, and a couple of practices, a week for 7 weeks.  The season typically runs from Late-August practices to October.  This is a great time to have your child try out the next division or to sign up kids who haven’t played in a while or just want to see what it is like to play baseball for the first time. Registration for Fall Ball is in Late July-Early August.

SPLL is a non-profit entity and actively supports the local park programs.  It is funded by registration fees, league fundraisers and tax exempt donations.
